Gethin Jenkins feels the pain
February 2006
They shoot horses don't they? Well not any more. Injured racehorses are sent off to the equine spa these days and that's where Wales' thoroughbreds will be sent to if they go lame in the Six Nations.
Wales will be using a £40,000 equine spa throughout the tournament in an attempt to keep their much injured squad in one piece.
"The players have been using ice baths to aid their recovery for some time," says Wales fitness coach Mark Bennett. "But the equine spa allows up to seven or eight players to be treated together and allows the temperature to remain constant at two degrees. In an ice bath the temperatures dont actually go below nine degrees."
